Audiology services update

Since the relocation of audiology services from Dorking Community Hospital (provided by Kingston & Richmond NHS Foundation Trust) to Kingston, the ICB has been working proactively with the Trust, other hospitals and community-based providers to identify a more sustainable, permanent local solution.

Following these discussions, we expect to confirm a local service for non-complex hearing assessments, fittings and repairs in Dorking shortly, adding to similar services already available in Leatherhead, Banstead and Epsom.

We anticipate the new service will primarily be for new patient referrals. For those with more complex needs, we are working with other local hospitals such as Epsom while we continue to expand the option for complex care locally.

In the meantime, we have been contacting all patients who have been moved from Dorking to Kingston, offering them a choice of virtual follow-ups (where that’s appropriate) and discussing future options with them.

We hope that in time most local patients on Kingston’s caseload will be able to transfer to more local services including those on complex pathways.

We remain committed to ensuring patients receive the care they need as locally as possible, and we would like to thank everyone for their patience as we work as quickly as possible to put new arrangements in place.
