Funding secured for new state of the art Health Facility in Weybridge

We are delighted to share that funding has been secured for a new, state of the art health facility on the former Weybridge Hospital site.

This milestone follows extensive planning and collaboration with key partners and reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality, accessible healthcare for the local community.

Contractors, Willmott Dixon, have started enabling works, which include the installation of perimeter hoarding, site offices, and minor demolition in preparation for the main build phase in early 2026.

The new two-storey building will be home to The Phoenix Family Practice and a wide range of services tailored to local needs, including:

  • Maternity care
  • Same-day urgent care
  • Diagnostic services
  • Flexible clinical and community space to support evolving service delivery

The development supports the ambitions of the NHS Long Term Plan, bringing care closer to home and enabling more sustainable, neighbourhood-based services for residents of Weybridge and surrounding areas.

Estimated completion is Spring 2027.

Jack Wagstaff, Executive Director of Strategic Commissioning for Surrey Heartlands said:

This huge milestone has been made possible by the local community working in partnership with Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care Board, the Phoenix Family Practice, NHS Property Services and Elmbridge Borough Council.

This long-awaited health facility will provide significant public benefits for the people of Weybridge and surrounding area with a sustainably accessed, high quality scheme which will make a positive contribution towards replacing the community hospital lost in the fire of 2017.

We’re excited to work with our partners and the community to bring this vision to life and anticipate that the building will be ready for use by Spring 2027.

Richard Poulter, Willmott Dixon's Managing Director in the South said:

We are delighted to be working on this important community health facility for Weybridge.

This project will provide community-focused care, bringing vital health and wellbeing services closer to where people live and work.

Working collaboratively with NHS Property Services and all the project partners, we are committed to delivering a high-quality, sustainable building creating a modern healthcare environment that the Weybridge community can be proud of.

Simon Taylor, Director Estates Policy, Strategy & Capital Projects at NHS Property Services, said:

We are delighted to achieve this milestone for this important project which supports our commitment to delivering an excellent NHS estate that provides excellent patient care where patients feel safe and well cared for.

From here we will continue to work closely with Willmott Dixon, the Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care Board, the Phoenix Family Practice, and other partners as we progress the construction stage and plan for occupation in 2027.

Dr Graeme Wilding – GP Partner from The Phoenix Family Practice said:

After eight years the commencement of the rebuild is happening.

While this is clearly excellent news, it does mean that we will be entering an extended period of disruption due to the building process with parking spaces at a premium.

We thank our patients and staff for your ongoing patience and look forward to moving into our new premises which we would hope to be somewhere around Spring 2027.

Steve McCarthy, Chair of the Patient Participation Group at The Phoenix Family Practice in Weybridge said:

This is a fantastic milestone for our community.

The new purpose-built facility will give the GP Practice a spacious permanent home, and the additional community health services will make a real difference to patients and families in Weybridge.

We’re delighted to see this investment in our future.

Further updates will be shared as the project progresses.
