More choice for parents from 1 October with free flu vaccine for 2 and 3 year olds now at local pharmacies
Parents of 2- and 3-year-olds now have even more choice when it comes to protecting their child against flu.
From 1st October 2025, as well as getting your child’s free nasal spray flu vaccine from your GP practice, you can also visit a local pharmacy offering the service.
This means you can choose what works best for you and your family’s schedule – whether that’s fitting it in around work, nursery pick-ups, or other daily demands.
It’s all about making it easier to keep your child healthy this winter.
Flu can be very serious for young children, leading to complications like bronchitis and pneumonia.
The nasal spray vaccine helps protect your child from getting ill in the first place. It’s quick, painless, and has been safely given to millions of children around the world.
By getting your child vaccinated, you’re not only helping to protect them – you're also helping to protect more vulnerable friends and family, such as grandparents or anyone with a long-term health condition.
It’s also worth remembering that if your child gets flu, it could mean time off nursery and work, and the need to arrange last-minute childcare. The vaccine helps reduce the risk of all that disruption.
Local Surrey pharmacist Jay Amin, who is offering the nasal spray vaccine at his pharmacy in Guildford, said:
We know how busy parents are, so we’re really pleased to be able to offer the flu nasal spray for 2- and 3-year-olds right here at the pharmacy.
It’s quick, gentle, and you don’t need an injection.
It’s just one small step that can make a big difference to your child’s health this winter.
So, whether it’s through your GP or your local pharmacy, book your child’s flu vaccine from 1st October and help keep everyone safer this winter.
