More patients in Surrey using NHS app

More patients in Surrey are taking control of their healthcare thanks to the growth and flexibility of the NHS App.
68% of Surrey Heartlands’ population are registered for the NHS App which is the highest in England.
Login activity is also up by 77% on last year which shows that more and more people across the county are embracing the convenience of digital access to their healthcare via the NHS App.
However, NHS leaders in Surrey would still like to see more of the public download and use the app and is reminding patients to make sure their NHS App notifications are enabled in order to receive messages.
Dr Pramit Patel, Primary Care Clinical Leader at NHS Surrey Heartlands, said:
Giving people a choice about how they manage their healthcare is really important and the app allows patients control over their care in a way that many people find more convenient.
It is also a critical tool in helping us achieve our goal of shifting from analogue to digital, replacing paper-based records with online data and digital platforms.
We know this improves clinical quality, enhances patient care and increases productivity whilst providing significant savings for the NHS across the board.
We’d like to encourage people to check that their notifications for their NHS app are switched on, which they can do in their device settings.
This allows GP surgeries to send you reminders and messages via the app instead of by text or post which will save money for your local NHS.
The NHS App can be used by the majority of patients to:
- Request and view your repeat prescriptions and nominate a pharmacy
- View your healthcare record including test results and consultation notes
- Get notifications about appointments and other messages from your surgery or hospital
- See your estimated hospital waiting times for your referrals
- Contact your GP surgery with non-urgent queries
- Manage health services for someone else you look after as their parent, guardian or carer
- Access NHS 111 online for 24/7 health advice.
More information is available on the NHS website.
