The Brooklands Innovation Academy 2023 is coming this October

Following the success of the first-ever Brooklands Innovation Academy 2022, Brooklands Museum has announced the event, will return to its site once again on the 3rd of October 2023.

The Brooklands Innovation Academy 2023 event will see hundreds of students visit Brooklands Museum to showcase the many career opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM). On the day, students will be able to immerse themselves in engaging practical workshops and hear from inspirational speakers, including Professor Brian Cox CBE FRS who will be attending this year’s event.

Last year’s event was one of three held across the UK in November 2022 as part of the annual National Science Summer School programme co-founded in 2012 by Professor Brian Cox CBE FRS and Lord Andrew Mawson OBE.

The Brooklands Innovation Academy has been developed as a collaborative partnership between Brooklands Museum, Bourne Education Trust and Well North Enterprises, and has acted as a catalyst connecting the NHS, schools, colleges, universities and businesses and encouraging collaboration.

It has also received recognition at the Museums + Heritage Awards 2023, where Brooklands Museum and Bourne Education Trust won the ‘Learning Programme of the Year’ award for their joint learning programme, which includes the Brooklands Innovation Academy.

Last year’s main event was sponsored by local organisations such as the North West Surrey Alliance (NWS Alliance). It was also supported by local STEM organisations including NWS Alliance partner, Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (ASPH), who ran workshops for the students throughout the day.

Following the event, NWS Alliance and ASPH have created a short highlights video from the day, which included the presentation of the Tim Spencer Award, which ASPH developed in partnership with the Bourne Education Trust - watch the Tim Spencer Award film.

NWS Alliance and ASPH are pleased to be supporting this year’s Science Summer School programme in Surrey, which aims to help raise the profile of the many NHS career pipeline opportunities available to young people within their local communities.

Please do look out for further information about the 2023 Brooklands Innovation Academy which will be released over the coming months.
