Surrey families encouraged to act as national childhood immunisation campaign launches
Families in Surrey are being urged to review their children’s vaccination status after the Department of Health and Social Care launched a new national campaign on 16 February.
Routine childhood vaccines already prevent around 5,000 deaths and 228,000 hospital admissions each year in England.
Health leaders say even more children’s lives could be saved if vaccination rates improve.
Measles can spread rapidly in communities where uptake is lower, and recent outbreaks elsewhere in the country highlight the importance of keeping children protected.
Parents across Surrey are encouraged to:
- Check their child’s Red Book or NHS App
- Contact their GP if any vaccinations have been missed
- Share trusted information within their communities
